The Green Man Family Inn
The Green Man Inn dates from the eighteenth century, and succeeds a much
older inn which stood in Maltons market place at the sign of the
Golden Talbot - a French hunting hound and the heraldic symbol of the
ancient family of Eure and is a great place for conferences and
meetings. The "new" Talbot was the first in Ryedale to be called "a
hotel" and was the towns posting house where coaches stopped to break
their journeys from York and Leeds, to Scarborough and Whitby. Each
of the 31 bedrooms has en-suite bathroom, colour television, radio,
direct dial telephone and a welcome refreshments tray. Many rooms enjoy
the view down to the River Derwent - get up early and you can catch a
glimpse of the race horses taking their morning exercise along the
river banks! The Hotel is an ideal meeting place and is easily accessed from
York, Scarborough, Hull and Leeds. With its choice of purpose built
conference, training and syndicate rooms together with ample private
car parking, The Talbot is a highly popular northern venue.
