Charlton House Hotel & Spa

Charlton House Hotel & Spa

Charlton House is the atmospheric country house hotel privately owned by Roger Saul, founder of the luxury design label Mulberry, and his wife Monty.  Set in Shepton Mallet amongst the rolling hills of Somerset, the property dates from c1630 and was first mentioned in the DomesdayBook.  Guests to the house are given the warmest of welcomes and the most memorable of stays.    The house is relaxing and tranquil with a richly designed theatrical interior, 25 individually designed bedrooms, a celebrated award-winning restaurant and a new opulent spa offering a range of restorative treatments and therapies for the mind body and spirit. On arrival, guests are greeted personally, there is no reception desk and there are no formalities.  The rich burgundy and rolled-gold hall features an interesting and eclectic mix of antiques, curios, family photographs and racing memorabilia collected on Roger and Monty’s journeys around the globe.  The stylish, comfortable drawing rooms are the perfect place to unwind, filled with inviting sofas and armchairs upholstered in an interesting mix of tweeds, silks, tapestries, leathers and suede.  The rooms overlook the fountain at the front of the house and the gardens and lawns at the rear.  A dramatic red and gilt opera box frames the entrance to restaurant.
