The lecture hall is regularly used for the Museum’s own lectures and is available for private hire by local groups and businesses. Seating up to 120, we can offer hire of data projector, flip charts, slide projector and refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits) for an additional charge.

This is also a perfect venue for children's parties, offering plenty of space for activities with an outdoor area of grass right outside.

Our exhibition rooms provide you with the ideal surrounding for all kinds of parties, anniversaries or receptions (for 80-800 people). Additionally, you can use our auditorium for presentations, slight shows or training classes (seats up to 238 people).

Situated in York city centre, The Castle Museum is the only museum of its kind in the world and is built on the site of the old debtors prison. It houses the cell in which Dick Turpin was imprisoned prior to his execution on the Knavesmire on the 7th April 1739. Dinners are held on the cobbled Victorian and Edwardian streets, complete with period shops and vehicles. Guests may also take a tour of the museum during their drinks reception. We can cater for events from 25-80 for a seated dinner and up to 150 for a stand-up buffet/reception.
