One Moorgate Place (Formerly Chartered Accountants' Hall)

One Moorgate Place is a great place for conferences and
meetings. Located in the heart of the city, this is a magnificent 19th
century building designed in the Italian Renaissance style and a
thriving conference and function centre providing a prestigious and
sophisticated environment for conferences, banquets, exhibitions and
receptions.
The Small Reception Room provides an intimate
setting for sit down lunches, dinners, receptions and presentations.
The furnishings are largely 18th and 19th century with the main
feature of the room being the fine bronze fireplace by Alfred Stevens,
representative of the Victorian age. The Great Hall provides
spacious air-conditioned accommodation for presentations, receptions,
exhibitions and dinners. It features several works of art, including
two glass engravings by David Kindersley which appear over the main
entrance. In 1980 Eduardo Paolozzi was commissioned to design a
tapestry, which now hangs on the east wall. Three paintings of Buckden
Church and Palace, St. David's Cathedral and Conisburgh Castle by John
Piper are featured in specially designed sections opposite the
main windows.
The Great Hall's refurbishment in 2001 included the
installation of a unique, state-of-the-art split screen system; the
only one of it's kind in London.
The Main Reception Room is almost certainly the
focal point of the building. It features a circular dome, designed in
such a way that one's eye is drawn naturally upwards. The bold but
simple stone columns support semi circular galleries with stone
balustrades. From the dome hangs an English glass chandelier and the
walls and ceiling contain striking murals by George Murray. All the
windows are stained glass incorporating traditional figures.
This stunning room is suitable for a variety of
events from sit down lunches, dinners and receptions to meetings and
presentations.
Equipped with videoconferencing facilities and
satellite television, the Committee Rooms provide facilities for
smaller meetings, and are all elegantly furnished, each with an
individual style.
Part of the original Belcher building, the Council
Chamber seats 96 people in amphitheatre style. The room features two
large batik tapestries specially made in Sri Lanka. With full
audio-visual capabilities and ceiling mounted screen, the Council
Chamber is highly suited for training, seminars, lectures and
presentations.
